Sulking - how do you do it?
Well I've been a complete brat today and had a good old sulk - but I only feel a little bit guilty!
You see the thing is, all the lovely fun plans we made for the half term holiday have gone completely out of the window, so I had a sulk! I hit the super market (bad ish) bought chilli chocolate (not organic or fair trade - very bad ish
), a bottle of plonk (
as before), crisps (ditto ) and two bombay bad boy pot noodles (with cheese in) (nuf said) and have spent the afternoon on the sofa, in my pjs, under my blankey watching trashy stuff on the goggle box and eating totally bad carp - and do you know what? I feel a lot better! So go on - admit it - whats your fave sulk kit?
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Re: Sulking - how do you do it?
Haribo (sour mix - full bag) ready salted pringles (full tube) , big pot of tea.... a curry maybe.... a blankie and DVDs (The Princess Bride or Amelie)
Totally non-ish (though I guess the tea would be organic or fairtrade as that is what we buy)
I don't really 'sulk' as such, but I do occasionally get pissed off at people/life/womens troubles/ general slogging my butt off for the sake of other who don't appreciate it..... or if something has been depressing me, like death or illness.... I need an emotional break and I usually feel much better the next day - though often with upset tummy or at least the runs, that is the true price of Haribo and curry.

My favourite sulk kit are words.
Telling the wife I'm going on strike...... My sulks last about 30 minutes after that as she contemplates all the hassle she will endure washing, cleaning, cooking, walking etc whilst i'm on strike.
I only go on strike when I feel unwanted or unloved...... awwww

I'm not allowed to sulk. If I try to, I get told off by everyone up to and including the dog. But sometimes, when everyone is out and I am all alone I do make a cup of coffee, sit on the sofa and ruminate on how unfair everything is.
This doesn't last long as - actually - my life is pretty darned good
I'm expecting to be sectioned any day now

I'm with Riff Raff on this one. When the urge to sulk is upon me (like now when I'm having to do this post for the second time because my computer seems to be having problems doing what I ask it), I turn on the news (usually about death, bankruptcy and such) and count my blessings, of which there are very many. Blankeys are key equipment when you're not feeling well though!xx

Re: Sulking - how do you do it?
I do not sulk. I have never sulked in my life. I am a flare up instantly and then its gone kind of person.
My OH is a sulker - if he doesn't get his own way or something goes wrong and it's his fault or ..... well just about anything in fact, he goes and sulks - which usually means he goes for a ride on his motorbike or polishes it or messes about in his barn for a while, then comes back in the house with the silent treatment - which can last longer than a couple of hours.
By which time I am ready to kill him. I have forgotten what caused the sulk by then, and have a whole new outlook on the situation etc and have moved on.
I do not class the days when I have to cut myself off from the world with the DVD player or a good book and a glass of martini with cherries and ice as sulking - those are the days that prevent me going out on murderous sprees and keep the world a much safer place.

Re: Sulking - how do you do it?
men are the worst sulkers only they call it thinking quietly to themselves
in my house if the males sulk we call it their pink knicker time, and us women well its our hormones innnit
Re: Sulking - how do you do it?
I have found men sulk more, but either don't know they are doing it, or deny they are doing it.... If OH is doing it, it means disappearing, or walking round the house not talking to anyone, and not telling anyone what he is doing - usually he will pass the time of day with Cat, tell E what he is up to and let me know what room he is in... but if I ask him what's up, he denys that he is acting odd.
We don't really have arguments, or disagreements, so at least his sulking isn't caused by me.

Re: Sulking - how do you do it?
Fasinating thoughts from women on sulking. All of the "male sulks" above are the same in form as I go through occasionally only I suffer from stress and depression..
I go for a walk, talk to the dog or be quiet by myself in the garden or be outside dressed in a tee shirt in the middle of a snowstorm
" trying to get my head straight"
Maybe, just maybe you ladies can think that your men might be stressing over something and they don't want to "worry" you with it.
Asking "what's wrong" will not get the answers. Give him a cuddle and get into his soft side and you might find out why he's "sulking"

Re: Sulking - how do you do it?
My OH is really crap at sulking - fortunately - I can always make him laugh.
I heard someone called their partner a "grumpy old c**t (not a word in my vocabulary), but one day he got me so wild I called OH the same. Well he fell about laughing, much to my surprise.
Anyway, the aforementioned phrase fits beautifully into the tune for Winnie the Pooh - so now I whistle that, no-one else knows what it means (until now), and it instantly makes him laugh.

Re: Sulking - how do you do it?
My sulking never works.
Both the other half and I are hot heads, so we usually have a good slanging match, shout (not as much as we used too now there are children) and then apologise and have a cuddle.
At the end of the day it turns out that usually we are both tired, overstretched and feeling undervalued, and as the only other person around to blame it on, you get it in the neck!
Oh the joys of being in a Loving relationship
(Jon - my OH knows how you feel, outnumbered three to one, and even the two dogs are girlies! I swear he wants another baby only because he lives in hope that no. 3 will turn out to be 'on his side'!
