mooncup cosies
I've been asked not to put russiandoll's on here cos she's embarrassed lol. hers is in the shape of a cat.
anyway, after putting hers on a parenting forum, then being asked to remove it by her (in such a sweet way lol!!) i was asked by another parent if i could see my way to making her one. ok I said. she offered to pay, to which i answered no way! it stops me snacking in front of the telly, keeps me busy on the bus and is a great stashbusting exercise!!
so, here's her strawberry...
i found completing that one so satisfying that i thought what the heck and made myself one.
It's a blackberry. i am sooo pleased with the puff stitch; thank you Debi Stoller's Happy Hooker lol!!!
lined with non-fluffy yarn (yeah i know, the cup'll still need a rinse before use...)
tri-point leaves (and oops, the edge of my cup!!!)
this is currently sat on my bathroom windowsill lol!!

Re: mooncup cosies
not really, i kind of make it up as a go along... general rule of thumb is the cup itself has a diameter of between 44 and 47 mm depending on what size and brand, mine for instance is 45mm.
circumference therefore is 142mm approx.
chain as many as it takes to hit 142 mm.
join with a slst. ch1.
dc in each ch, right around to create the foundation.
get to the end again, ch4.
*miss 1dc, tc in next dc (i.e. 3rd from hook) rep from * to end. ch1, turn.
dc along the line.
now dc about 4-5 rows. this will be the top of your drawstring bag.
on the next row to kee an idea of where you are, dc in each stitch, but make sure you only do it through the inside loop, not both loops like normal.
on the next row, dc as normal.
once this is done you can see a raised line. once the cup is in you will see what purpose it serves!! $
now, keep dcing rounds for about 2-2.5cms. on next round, begin decreasing. do this by dc in 2st 2 stiches, then miss one. dc in next 2, then miss one. keep doing this,
next row, dc in each stitch.
next row, dc in 1st 2, miss 1. dc in next 2, miss 1. carry on to end of round.
next row, dc in each stitch.
keep decreasing until you have a hole which when pressed flat is about 1cm in diameter.
blanket stitch or crochet closed.
done!
decorate any way you like. if you're lining it, at $, change colour/ yarn. for example, on the blackberry i did green to just below the holes, then i did purple to $ where i left a loop in the purple wool and then did the rest in the black. after i had done the black, i went back to that look and made the purple bit... does that make sense? prob not lol!!!

Re: mooncup cosies
What a lovely idea!
The only problem I'd have is that they are so cute, I'd find Leah playing with mine...... she already thinks my mooncup should be used with her dolly tea set....
