Hi from Australia

Post: # 140250Post new goody »

Hi, I have been web surfing a lot lately and keep coming across your site. Great information. My family and I are in the process of renovating a farmhouse in the country and will be moving out there in the next 12 months. There is no mains water and we are off-grid so we will have to be a bit selfsufficientish. We plan on buying a new woodfired range and can't decide on the Rayburn or the Stanley. So my first post will be about that. Also very interested in what others are doing in terms of sustainability. Mr Goody is a v.green, eco, climate changey type professional and has access to lots of technical information, my job is to also gather the intelligence from the folk who are living the good life. In advance, thanks all and looking forward to a long and rewarding online good life with you.

PS - also new to posting in forums so please bear with if I am getting things mucked up - ta.

Best regards
New Goody

Good morning Red, Millymollymandy, Muddywitch and Loobyloo.
Good morning becks77, corymbia in Australia, JulieSherris and Kiwirach and thank you one and all for the welcome.

Kiwirach to answer your question, we are moving to the Barossa Valley in South Australia.
And just in case anyone is wondering, it is 41C here today that is 105.8 degree Fahrenheit (day 2 of a heatwave not expected to end until next week).

best, new goody

Hello Sleepyowl, I got it a bit wrong it was 45.6C today, hottest day in 70 years and second hottest day on record. My chooks (The Girls) were still panting at 8.00pm this evening.

I think we managed the 5.6*c bit yesterday! Mind, I agree with SleepyOwl, too hot is worse than too cold maybe we could all email you some British grotty Winter weather in swap for abit of your Aussie Sunshine?

What state are you in new goody? I'm going to put Australia in as your location in your profile as it is confusing when you chat elsewhere on the forum if people don't know where you live (esp. when talking about growing veg!). You can change the location yourself but I thought you might not know how!
