Uplifting comforts
Uplifting comforts
I enjoyed the posts in the thread about flower remedies and thought it'd be nice to have a general category for things we do to make our days nicer.
Visiting ish
Drinking tea
Going to sleep early
Taking walks, short and not so short
Writing real letters
Reading real letters
Fiddling with my fountain pens
Cutting my mother's hair
are a few of mine.
Yours?

Waking up in the morning not knowing what I'm going to be doing all day ..... cos I haven't decided yet.

Re: Uplifting comforts
Lots of silly things make my days happier...
Waking up next to my OH
Opening the bird cage to be greeted with 'tuppa tea?' from Beanie (always makes me giggle to myself)
Looking through my craft stuff and spotting something I had forgotten about
Make things
Cook
Read a book
Watch an old movie (I love my B&W movies)
Get cuddles when I feel low
Chat to my internet friends
Visit Ish
Visit my craft forums
... hundreds of things really, sometimes just seeing the bright, cheery, shiny colours of all my beads makes the day better!

a hot bath - we usually take showers

knitting- even though i haven't yet completed one item, it's still very satisfying!
having a little sing to myself (or better, at my unsuspecting housemates )
planting cherry tomatoes which have gone off (works very well)

Re: Uplifting comforts
Watching the sunrise
Watching the sunset
Looking at the photos of my grandmothers, and great-grandmothers
Hearing my parents' voices on the phone
Hearing my father laugh
Having my mother pat my hand, or brush a wisp of hair off my face
Getting the bed all warm before I get into it (I have an electric mattress pad)
Mixing new fountain pen ink colors
Putting a letter to someone into the post box to send out
Taking a letter from someone out of my own post box

I agree with you that there is something very odd about a household without books. It's as if the people never think.
Uplifting comfort list cont'd:
Aiming the heater with the fan so that the warm air surrounds my feet!

Re: Uplifting comforts
How good to see that someone elso thinks that - I thought I was being a bit strange! My daughter came home from a boyfriend's house astonished that there were NO BOOKS - not even a dictionary, ( Ina a house with three school students)/LBR wrote:I agree with you that there is something very odd about a household without books. There was a telly which covered an entire wall apparently.......................

You would be comfortable in our house then Fee, we have more books than spaces to put themthe.fee.fairy wrote:I get very nervous if a house doesn't have books...
Laying in a warm bed hearing the rain lashing against the window.
Laying in a warm bed listening to the sea roaring in heavy weather.
Being woken up by my dog licking my eyes open.
Oversleeping and not having to worry that I'm late for work
Enough of the bed orientated thoughts Odsox
Eating a meal where everything has been produced by myself (usually only happens now when we have Spanish omelette or similar)
Seeing a full moon rise over the sea on a calm night.
Living next door to the grandchildren ... you can watch them grow up AND you can send them home when you want some peace and quiet.
