101 indulgences, mostly of the "ish" variety

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

40. Writing letters the old-fashioned way, enjoying being slow about dipping the pen, thinking kind thoughts of the person who'll receive the letter, and having an all-round nice time.

Virtually every aspect of my new life in the "slow lane"

- cooking (rather than chucking something together quickly after work!)
- baking
- eating at the dining table instead of collapsing in front of the TV
- not having take-aways (the nearest's 40-miles away - I thought it was 70 but discovered there's one in Lairg).
- planning and tending my veg garden
- planning to expand it this year
- my polytunnel
- chatting to my new neighbours/ friends
- chatting to my new ish friends

All those things that I never did in my previous life that I adore now

-going out on a frozen morning to chop wood for the fire
-going out on a sunny morning to collect up dry deadfall for kindling
-making a big bowlful of handmade crisps and handmade dip perfect for those evenings when we sit and play cards or a board game and laugh together as a family
-planning and creating a three course dinner with apertives for when we have friends over
-chasing chickens and ducks home after they have wandered off too far AGAIN
-harvesting
-making things - all sorts of things - that I see in the shops or online and think I like but can't afford to buy.
-taking time to play with the cats and the dog

and my current favourite (although it is not really the season)
- that first cup of coffee in the morning, outside watching the sun come up, or while watching my horse eat her hay breakfast, or while the chickens scrape about at my feet.

Delicious
2010 is my year of projects - 365 days and 365 projects.
