Super-Quick Ham and Leek Pasta

Post: # 1363Post sunpuppy »

SO not healthy, but tastes gorgeous, and can be done in the time it takes for the spaghetti to cook.

1 leek per person (or half a large leek)
4 slices of smoked ham per person
1 small tub sour cream per person
wholewheat spaghetti

and last, but definitely not least, the magic ingredient.....coarse ground black pepper.

Put your spaghetti on to cook before you make the sauce.

Chop the leeks and ham and chuck them in a wok or frying pan in a little bit of olive oil. Once the leeks have softened, add the sour cream and heat through.

Then add LOADS and LOADS of coarse ground black pepper - much more than you think you should. The sour cream should turn a pale yellow colour.

Serve topped with fresh parmesan and a green salad, and make a mental note to start running in the morning.... :bom:

THat does sound tasty and pretty easy!

I don't think there is much wrong in having a fatty meal once in a while. Especially if you are a gardener and so are excercising regually.

We can get "lite" sour cream also, which is fat reduced.

Speaking of sour cream I generaly sour my own by squeezing lemon juice in with the normal cream mixing it up and leaving to one side for half hour or so. Is nice if you put in a teaspoon of cumin powder and a couple of teaspoons of dill.

Spag and cream are an instant "success" for a quick meal. I think you can bung just about anything in that mix.

A little parmesan and green chilli.

Some stir fried steak and mushrooms.

or stir fried mushroons and peppers.

Something like this is on the menu here every week or two :)
