Who do you buy your seeds from?


I have been a mixture of Lidl, swaps and B+Q but I can't help thinking I am missing a world of wonderful vegetable delights.... does anyone have any good links for seed catalogues?

love realseeds as well.....just spent £20 on lots of heirloom varities!.
also interested in placing an order from Suffolk herbs....more for the herbs tho, not vege.

They (she) has most varieties at much better prices, and they (she) posts abroad too.

I find Edwin Tuckers' good for certain things.

The seeds tend to be relatively cheap, but they do charge a more realistic price for postage - which can make some things more expensive. They have both organic and non-organic seeds.

I got some cauliflower, calabrese and pea seeds from realseeds and they are the most reliable I've ever had. I'd say so far I've had 95-100% germination. I'll definitely go back there and give some other varieties a try. You also get instructions on how to harvest your own seeds so that you don't have to buy any in future.

Oh John, I bet you are, whether you plan to or not. It took us years to get rid of stray spud plants in our old garden. We grow them in bags and pots now - not such a good yield but less of a problem in the rest of the garden.

yep, that is exactly why we giving it a rest, we have used potatoes to change the ground (from 4 foot weeds to growing land) I will be hunting for rouges in the spring, but you are right, I know that when I plant something, a few weeks later I will have a potato plant coming up in the row.

I have a rogue spud plant a foot high and about 18" wide which I'm leaving as long as possible in the hope I might get some tiny new potatoes soon! Anyway it is good to know it has survived about 12 frosts and temps down to about 2C and is still growing!

As for seeds I avoid T&M these days as I am not happy with the poor germination from their seeds, also they are very stingy on the amounts of seeds in their packets compared to other companies.

I wouldn't use mail order but as I am in France there are a lot of veggies they don't grow here, thus have to get them from the UK.
