WHAT A BARGIN
I was looking in our local charity shop and on the floor was six demijohns, just what i needed so i asked how much and the lady hummed and said they dont seem to shift very well so if you want them all you can have them for 50p each, trying to keep calm i said ok i'll take them all ,great she said i was wondering how to get rid of them. can you belive it if i had to buy them new they would cost £4 plus each

Well done! I used to often see demijohns in charity shops and second hand shops. Then, when I wanted some there weren't any anywhere. I ended up paying full pops

Congratulations!
There are some great recipes in the homebrew section. I made the lemon and ginger for my first one and it was a resounding success.
There's also a recipe for mead there too that i made...adn that's wonderful!

I have always fancied brewing meade, not far from us is holy island and there meade is lovely,
i wont be able to make it like that but i'll give it a go.

Good find!
Dave made mead last year and we tried it a few months back, it was not quite like the commercial stuff but a good brew none the less. It used to be brewed with meadowsweet could be an idea to use some of that in it to improve the flavour.

I found some fair trade honey from our new alternative shop its only £1.89 a jar at that price its worth having a go at meade.

Mead sounds good, Russ - but try to get a handful of flowers into the must. Strangely, mead never smells like you think it should.
