There are currently free lime & clay rendering/plastering courses running on Orkney if anyone is interested. Will be too late for the one that starts tomorrow but, there are more. It is on the site of construction of a strawbale house with a turf roof.

In these courses you will learn about lime, different types of lime, and where and how to use lime in your own buildings in a safe and competent manner, whilst practicing to high quality finish on the walls of this new-build. You will be encouraged to get hands-on experience of a wide variety of skills, to ask questions and to have fun! The practical elements will be illustrated by lectures and presentations with an opportunity for lime slaking.
