i'm not sure about broccoli as it is a floret and not the whole compact plant. nothing else has been mentioned in my old books,

If you cut bulb fennel and leav ethe root it comes back, albeit small

Can't stand the taste of it myself, but my grandmother when she cuts her broccoli leaves as much of the bare stem as she can, it sends up so many side shoots that the second and third harvests are sometimes bigger than the first.

I've been scared of trying to grow brocolli this year due to it's reputed difficulty to grow (I used my seeds as swaps), but I'd really like to try next year. thanks!
