Mint
Mint
What are my chances, do you think, of growing mint in a heavily-wooded part of the garden (think real woodland)? It's shade-tolerant, I know, but this situation might be a bit extreme.

Re: Mint
Mint will grow anywhere and everywhere - but be warned - it will take over the WHOLE area...and probably beyond - it is VERY invasive.

Re: Mint
Sink a bucket into the ground with holes in the bottom and plant it in that if you want to limit its spread.

I tried this but it escaped! Where tall bits laid down and touched the ground they rooted and away it went!Michelle wrote:Sink a bucket into the ground with holes in the bottom and plant it in that if you want to limit its spread.

Re: Mint
I made the mistake of letting mint get free in the garden. We now have a plantation.
Once, when on holiday in Egypt, I found it growing in the desert.
Eventually, the entire world will be knee-deep in mint.

Do you think if I plant it in the clearing in my woodland where the bracken is trying to take over it will overpower the bracken?hedgewitch wrote:Mint will grow anywhere and everywhere - but be warned - it will take over the WHOLE area...and probably beyond - it is VERY invasive.
