Site gallery

Just a thought, there are so many wonderful pictures, spread out amongst different threads, of everyone and there home towns, back gardens, families, inventions and animals.
Would it be a good idea to have a site gallery situated in the welcome furum as a "sticky" at the top. then new members who join can see exactly what they are getting themselves in for.
just an idea, I do have them occasionally!

I'm surprised that no-one else has commented! I would LOVE a photo gallery here - most other forums I use have them.

I will bring the subject to Andy's attention.

Logistics really with this, might be that we have one with flickr accounts or whatever? We could end up seriously using a lot of bandwidth.

Russ if you have t'internet and a digital camera, you need a (free) flickr account!

It's where I upload all my photos that are on my blog/my posts on here. I think that's why basic blogs are free ££ 'cos it' only text that's on the sites server - the photos are else where.

You can also set up groups on flickr for people to link their photos to. Perhaps Shirlz will know more being a proper photo bod

Just got a book about learning computers :study: , need a damn degree to understand it :banghead: .
I think what it boils down to is that it takes me so long to write something, and i get scared to touch anything in case i wipe it off, plus when i first started looking on the net i would put in a word about gardening ect and i dont know how some form of p orn would pop up, this really bothers me and as i let my grandchildren play on my computer, so one of my sons put a blocker on to stop some of it for me,
saying that they are far more technically clever than i will ever be

All the best

Hahaha that's a good one. I've set up a flickr group for Neeps - it's open to anyone that wants to add photos and/or look at the ones already posted. You can make a group private if you want to, and only allow certain people access to it. I recommend that course of action if you are going to be posting photos of your children etc.

It's not personal though is it - they are all mixed up.

I have a gallery on another forum and I can give my photos a title and then below a description. Other people can make comments too!

Unfortunately one of the galleries where I had a load stored just disappeared one day that's why a lot of old photos I've posted on Ish are not there any more!

The easiest thing is the forums where you can just upload from your computer, though they still require resizing (shrinking).

Never understood this. I appreciate Andy's point about restricting bandwidth (otherwise big cost), but I don't understand how other people can host a photographic dump site apparently for nothing. Where is the money/advantage (advantage usually costs money) coming from?

C'mon - someone explain so I don't have to worry tonight when I should be sleeping.

(EDIT: - I still think an ISH gallery would be good)

what about we use our own hosts and link, rather than ish having to host the images somewhere...?!
or are there more problems with that? I use piclynk and photobucket rather than flikr.
