how about an wwoofish section??
do you know wwoof? the organization where you can join and you go to help out an organic farmer/ smallholder, in exchange for free stay plus food?
I thought it would be great if we had something here too........there are a few smallholders who maybe would like company from other ssish'ers, who are helping out a bit as a kind of "working holiday".
I for one, am in for it next year if you are willing to have me and my now 13 year old daughter who loves all things country (esp horses).
Also it gets you some hands on experience what having a smallholding is like, and learn new tricks of the trade.

Well free accomodation here to anyone who can help us out, that is as long as you can weild a lopper, secateurs or saw, as there is enough pruning needing to be done to last a lifetime.
Oh we are in NZ, surrounded by conservation land, with one of the hottest and sunniest climates in NZ ( if you don't like temperatures above 35C don't come in summer)

Opinionated but harmless
I think it sounds like a great idea.
So does OH, and usually thinks everyone is an axe murderer.

We host wwoofers too!
If anybody fancies spending time (1 week +) in the mountains of southern Spain on an Organic smallholding we offer all meals and comfortable accommodation in return for approx 25 hrs work per week. See our website www.g-and-t.eu or email me for further details

We´re not far away from Ginny, though higher up the mountain and a completely different landscape!
We ARE listed as wwoof hosts and ask for 25 hours and a fair contribution to the washing-up! I´d be glad to give more details of who we are and what we do toanyone who wanted wwoof here.

Does anyone fancy a week on a couple of northern inner city allotments? See our exciting wildlife (the area is rightly world famous for it's unthreatened population of the non-endangered giantus ratus) Mix with the beautiful people - the bloke-next door's man-boobs and builder's bum being particularly worthy of mention. Enjoy the night-life at the 'Leech and Cockroach's' karioke evening whilst sipping warm (but full-strength so that's OK then) local Australian lager. With temperatures occasionally reaching as much as 12C and views over the nearby council estate thrown in I'm sure to be over-booked so sorry, but first come first served.

We've applied to become wwoof hosts but they say they're a bit busy with renewals just now!
I still want to get my herb garden started - needs planning, digging and planting! Keeps being put back as we're so busy with routine stuff!
Anyway, comfy room/s good food and dare I say, good company! If interested, get in touch!

OH and I have worked as WWOOFers on an organic smallholding in Suffolk twice now. We are paid up members and love to work hard & meet new people.
A WWOOF section would be useful I think.

Re: how about an wwoofish section??
This organisation is good too
http://www.helpx.net/
We had two fellas here at the beginning of the year and they were great and dod so much!
We didn't join the WOOF group as we aren't organic although we minimise the amount of chemicals we try and use, some are just unavoidable I'm afraid

This sounds great. It would be a bit of a busmans holiday for me, but would be a great way to learn new skills, meet like minded people, I think I'd go abroad though!
