Looks great. My problem is we have very specific needs - we are 58 degrees north so have a short growing season, extremely windy site (1/4 acre which is long and thin so means we can't have any tall canopy trees - too close to house) that is half a mile from the North Atlantic.

Any suggestions?

Hi Green Aura

It sounds like planting a windbreak would be good place to start - the following plants are wind tolerant and will grow in the conditions you have described

Japanese Quince - Chaenomeles speciosa
Russian Olive - Elaeagnus angustifolia
Autumn Olive - Elaeagnus umbellata
Siberian Pea Tree - Caragana arborescens

the following are wind tolerant and will be worth trying

Damson - Prunus insititia
Cherry Plum - Prunus cerasifera
Rose of Sharon - Hibiscus syriacus
Elderberry - Sambucus nigra
Goji Berry - Lycium barbarum
