Gah, Fleas!

Due to popular demand, here is the section to discuss everything to do with our pets. Please remember though to post any queries regarding pet livestock in the livestock section as you are more likely to get the right response there!

Check out using tansy if you want a natural way to keep em at bay and I'm pretty sure it can be found in your part of the world. There's probably a recipe for a solution somewhere on the net....

As for creating a lure you can use a small lamp (no shade) sat on a large sticky sheet. The lamp needs to be on a timer to click it off and back on again every 5 mins or so. The fleas move towards the light and when it goes off they jump towards the source thinking an animal has passed between it and them. Hence they get stuck and bye bye.

It's better to use natural remedies to get rid of fleas because chemicals can bring harm to your pet. Peppermint, basil, wormwood, tansy, garlic, pinewood sawdust are strong flea repellents because of their strong smell. Citrus and herbal sprays are good enough too. Chemical treatment must be used only in case of strong infestation. Here are some tips on how to get rid of those insects. Hope it will come in handy.
