Mushrooms in my garden

Post: # 151073Post bagnally »

I have found some mushrooms in my garden that look rather tasty to eat. I can't find any information on them on the internet or the free Food book we have, can you please tell me if they are edible?

Thanks

Although difficult to be sure from a picture, this is likely to be a common ink cap. If it is a common ink cap it is edible but not advisable because of adverse reactions when alcohol is consumed. Ink caps are also not good after the they turn black and inky as the one in the picture has started to do.

Thank you for responding. They do look very tempting to eat, perhasps we will wait till next year and maybe catch them when they are safe to eat.
