I like this thread. Makes me feel all warm! I love:

reading a good book

watching old movies that make me cry (Goodbye Mr Chips, Mrs Miniver and It's a wonderful life are corkers for that)

watching the birds in the garden (even when they're ruining my seedlings I can't help loving them)

staying in my jim-jams til midday!

cleaning! I hate the thought of it at first but once I get on with it and see the results it gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I have a tendency to put things off as long as possible so it's quite a treat for me to actually do something constructive and feel like I've achieved something useful!

drinking copious amounts of tea on cold days

eating chocolate

drinking wine in front of the fire in the evening

Woo!! I am number 60!

Anyway, off topic.

My uplifting comforts are:

A piece of toast made with homemade bread with thick butter and jam and a cup of nettle tea. (Replace jam with marmite when the mood takes me)
Walking on the beach in the Gower with my family or OH,
A loooooong hot shower (very unethical I know)
could probably think of more in a bit.

Having the whole family together, then without a doubt it has a close contest between walking barefoot on the dew soaked grass listening to the early morning birdsong, whilst checking all my gorgeous plants before my mad day begins and the contagious laughter of my beautiful grandaughter.

Then coming close is the smell of fresh baking and the chattering of the family around our table which is never short of visitors and the question of how do you make that then? by my daughter in laws.

Playing in the snow with people who are also acting like small children!
I feel more invigorated than i have done for ages after yesterday's playing session!

I've got to agree with you on that one, how invigorating it is to release our inner child,we should all do it more often

Reading to children, whether my own or a class I'm "supplying", they love stories and with the insanity of the Nationalist Curriculum, testing etc. get so little of it. Watch them as you read, it's almost hypnotism as they get engaged and involved with the narrative .....

Sat by the Esse bright with driftwood, gently heating a soup from garden veg and sipping my first glass of weekend wine ......

Love and Peace
Jim
