cycled to work every day for a month

Cycling, trains, walking. This is the place to talk about how good or bad cycle routes are, mention great train journeys, talk about car sharing schemes or husky travel. Anything in fact that is about transport that is a little alternative.

Well done,

If more people did this then the cycle routes would have to be widened and the country as a whole would get fitter :thumbright:

Well done Helen.

Of course I walk to work every day - it's twenty yards up the corridor! So doesn't help weight loss much

Its only about 2 miles so not a great distance, takes me about 20 minutes.
I am starting to enjoy it now too and seeing is as less of a chore. Not sure how I will feel when it starts getting cold though.

I find the weather doesn't bother me that much when I cycle.

It is amazing how few days a year I have to cycle in the rain. Probably only a couple of times a year

Get some lightweight wet weather gear specially designed for cyclists and you'll not even notice the rain, it's the snow that'll bother you most ;)

When I was fitter I used to go on cycling holidays and a friend and I did 500 miles in a week once (knackered but fun) and for two whole days it rained constantly but we didn't notice it because we were prepared :D

H - that's fantastic - you are an inspiration

I'm full of talk but no action at the mo - was full of intention re cycling to work once a week - only managed it 3 times so far (in about 2 months :pale: ) - I've got loads of excuses  I've not even managed to car share the last 3 weeks either - I need to take myself out for a good talking to :violent1:

Good luck with the wieght loss and wedding :queen: plans - sounds like you are making top progress. :toothy4:

Thanks fruitcake, your post really made me smile.
I was feeling depressed becaue I cycled into town yesterday and locked up my bike nice and securely, went into a shop (only for a maximum of about 15 minutes) and when I came out some bu**er had undone my back wheel, obviousely in an attempt to be away with it!! I couldnt believe it! I was literlly gone for 15 mins. I am so glad I locked it up securely.
