I heard on the news that BAA are saying that anyone distrupting the normal running of the airport would be arrested.

Hey why don't we just get together in my living room for a cup of tea and a biscuit to protest about airports expanding and adding to global warming... :banghead:

message for BAA - ITS A PROTEST - you bunch of idiots, thats the whole bloody point AAAARRRGGGHHH.

Have to say I was very disappointed with Newsnight tonight; Kirsty Wark pressed George Monbiot to condemn actions that hadn't actually taken place, and were entirely a work of fiction that had come from that epitome of the right wing reactionary press, The Evening Standard. Having established that there was no substance to the allegations, why did she persist along those lines and give airtime to stuff that wasn't true as if it was relevant?

Alas, instead of pointing out that these questions were just pandering to a smear campaign which seeks to undermine the protest by presenting lies and fiction as news, Monbiot acquiesced, and went ahead and condemned people for stuff they haven't actually done. And even though he doesn't represent anyone but himself, he was pushed into giving guarantees about the behaviour of others. He really should have thought not to dignify those questions with answers - there was no shortage of legitimate points he could have made instead.

Mind you, by comparison, the Government spokesman was unbelievable in his attempt to press home the point that these people were an irresponsible threat to the nation's security, and that lives were at risk.

Could have been Heseltine or Tebbit straight from Thatcher's front bench in the '80s - I couldn't believe this was a member of a Labour government which has its roots in the right to dissent. If he had grappled with the issues, he would have had no need to try and divert attention away from them. Instead, he had no solutions to offer.

Ms Wark was in particularly vile form last night - seldom seen such a blatant example of "putting words in people's mouths"....
It's the repeating of the tactic first started by Maggie Thatcher - daemonise the protesters, then send the uniformed psychos in to kick the cr*p out of them, whilst the public sits back reassured that the government is protecting them!!!!!!!!!!! :geek:

Hahahaha...it is laughable.

My next day off is Sunday, so if CC is still on then, i may have to take myself down there. Might even take my Stansted Airport pass and see if i can pass the checks on the way in...

This doesn't make sense! you lot are talking about someone else calling the protesters terrorists but you are talking like you're terrorists. You want to disrupt peoples day to day lives by making a point? Who gives you the right to do that ............Protests are supposed to be peaceful demonstrations of or collective public dissobedience. Disrupting a persons travel or people going about their normal business is in effect a public demonstration of assaulting that persons rights.

You want these people getting on a plane and talking about your protest then all well and good, but if they are getting on a plane thinking that the airport is full of protesting thugs then that is the only re-action you are going to get.

Asssaulting their RIGHT to fly??? - one presumes that you'd still have children sweeping chimneys, can't go removing the rights of their exploiters!
Every single day I have people arrogantly ignoring my wish for life on earth to continue for a while longer, and pollute our skies, all so they can selfishly go to somewhere they probably couldn't point to on a map.......if anybody's "terrorists", it's them! :?
So, we have a largely peaceful protest, which the powers-that-be are trying to paint as being a "terrorist" thing...........if they run true to form, they'll kick merry hell out of them, having daemonised them in the public's eyes..........all because they are asking people to stop and think that their selfishness is killing our planet......
Disrupt their travel? - I'd ban ALL pleasure flights forthwith.............

-you'll note that they try to exclude all media when they "go in mob handed" - doubtless they'll also be covering/removing their id numbers so they can't be identified (still got the truncheon marks from the last demo I photographed them doing that!)
