What's to like? It's stressful, families are often the worst and financially it's pretty naff. And you have short days to work on the garden.

Then feel sorry for us, we're having it twice this year. The gal is going down to be with her boyfriend, for the actual event, who doesn't want any hassle so is getting in a takeaway!
So, being the indulgent parents we are, are having our traditional Christmas today (vegan) and then OH and I will have a much quieter (non-vegan) day on Wednesday. Probably in our pyjamas.

Are you telling me that you can get a takeaway on Christmas day, and a vegan one at that?
If so I'll add to my Pet Gripes and very pleased I left the country as it most certainly has gone even more downhill than I thought.

One Christmassy pet gripe - no turkeys for singles households. Last year I thought I'd get myself one of those turkey breast steaks - but no, they don't seem to sell them for Christmas. (Must admit I didn't look very hard, only in Lidl's...) I've got plenty of sprouts already, and probably won't be able to resist when I see them cheap in the shops, so I'll be mostly eating that, without the turkey.

They have the turkey breast steaks in two well known German discounters today so you may be able to get them yet :)

Apparently one of the Indian takeaway places in Inverness is open - and delivering. (She's not particularly happy about it though).

Can I add consultants who are running an hour and a bit late at the hospital? Let him off though as he's happy that there's no trouble with the replaced knee. That's the only good side.

Good to hear that Flo.

We gave the Solstice bonfire a miss but Christmas dinner no. 1 went down well. The gal feels like she's had Christmas so now isn't upset at the idea of a curry. My job is done.

My trusty head torch (probably as old as me); the bulb blew a couple of days ago.

Can I find a replacement bulb? Can I hell. Was hoping to be able to convert it to LED, but looks like I'll just have to replace the whole thing, which doesn't sit well with me.

So yes - things that replacement parts aren't available for :(
