Jamming
Just cleared out the fruit from the Freezer and made 60lb of Jam this morning. Very happy boy, slightly knackered.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Re: Jamming
I have been resisting Wabbit, as I have cupboards of the stuff, but I needed the space in the Freezer. I am good at making Jam, my wine however is 'ORRIBLE!!
This year I am going to IQF as much fruit as I can so I can bag it up, and eat it normally. This year I cooked it and froze it.
Hey Ho we live and learn.... I don't eat much Jam either, but this year I have "paid for" about 12 tonnes of chippin' and 6 tonnes of logs with Jam, so that side is ok!

Re: Jamming
You should sell some to buy some wine!!!I get £2 a jar for mine.I know they say its a minefield of red tape but I have never had a problem selling a few jars here and there, especially at craft fayres it's a real winner.
Grow it,make it ,eat it, drink it and sleep well!

Re: Jamming
I Know.. The fuller story is they were working up the road and I stopped and asked for the chipping to use as a mulch, they said ok, I gave them Jam, they asked if I needed any wood, I said yes, they came again a couple of months later with more of both, and they got more Jam ( The lady in the office liked it!) It's just showing your grateful with something other than cash, like the good old days!
I love it, and they enjoy it too, I think most people can remember an Aunt or Gran who did the same thing.
I have tried selling it, but it's a fag!

It is great to here about your bartering success. I don't think the Frogs in our bit of Brittany would go for anything less than alcohol for bartering purposes. The accepted currency is a bottle of Scotch or maybe Bush Mills and even then, no-one gives away precious wood.

Re: Jamming
I had a huge amount of raspberries in the freezer so I have done exactly the same! I made a big batch of rasperry jelly but because that seems so wasteful I then squeezed the pulp in the muslin into another pan and made half as many jars again of raspberry jam
I did keep some berries back though and have made my first batch of raspberry wine...no idea what that is going to taste like
Great idea to barter with these things...I'll have to look into that!
