Do we really need all these adverts for 'Asian beauties' on the site, I'm getting funny looks from my better half

Careful, merlin! I mentioned this not so long ago and those horrible moderators accused me of being a dirty picture fan ( I can't use the right word or I trigger a funny automatic response).

(Note for moderators ... YES!! You know who I mean).

The problem, Merlin, is that spam has become big business of late and the mods try to cover the entire 24 hours deleting these undesirables (MKG notwithstanding ).

Our site geek does a pretty good job of setting up filters and things to stop as many as possible getting in. But I'm afraid a few still slip through and also they occasionally find a hole in the wall and deluge the site which gives us horrendous problems!

It's not the spam, it's the google ads Merlin's talking about. I just ignore them. Ooops no, we are supposed to click on them to make revenue for the site.

Thank you Millymollymandy, I was not going to try to explain lol, bit odd'ish on a forum like this though, don't you think, I suppose to have the ads the whole lot has to be accepted, more dumbing down.

As I have never seen these ads, I'm left wondering if the 'ad monster' can do something I regularly can't: tell the sex of ISHers who (like me ) have ambiguous forum names?

I just had W0rld of W@rcraft before I clicked to reply - I find it very odd that we are supposed to keep clicking on these ads to make revenue for Self Suffish, when so much of the spam that the mods are battling to delete is advertising these exact same things. I must have deleted hundreds of spammers advertising w0w.

Surely something can be tweaked in the google ads because some of them are quite offensive and in your face. Well OK not offensive, just offputting and can't be good for the site (though I have a bumble bee now, it's really screwed up )

Not sure about that theory MW, I've never seen the girlies. The closest ones I get for the orient is Japanese knotweed

I am bombarded with Ads for this book, Booze for Free, and as I am not drinking at the moment, it's like getting Asian Babes adds targeted at Celibate Munks!

Although I must admit that the book is an excellent publication and well worth it, and if you only buy one book this year, this should be it.
