Re: What colour is your front door?
Ours is wood, varnished. It also has several cracks where you can see daylight through as it expands and contracts during the year.
However as it is a round topped custom made door to fit a stupid custom made door frame/wall opening (you can only open the door halfway inside because of stupid rounded plasterwork on the inside which said door bashes against - can you imagine the dork of an architect who designed that? ) - anyway am NOT going to pay thousands of euros to get a new one made to measure!!!
So it looks very blotchy on the outside as varnish/lasure peels off in the sun and is impossible to sand back the entire door every year or two to start a good varnish job all over again.

Ours is wood. It's actually a nice one with panels and a glass window. I'm wondering if I should paint it now, hmmm...

Horrible white plastic. It's the next thing on my list to replace. I'd love a nice wooden one painted dark green or dark blue.

1970's style glazed with muddy splatters where our 2 dogs sit against it (they're outside dogs). It does the job, lets light in, keeps burglars out, and in our house we don't replace anything unless it no longer works, and even then we normally fix it rather than replace it!!

Re: What colour is your front door?
Sort of Teal shade I guess, bluey green, two wired glass bubbly panels above two wooden panels, and a clear skylight above. It's 100 years old and is original to the house. Brass 'furniture' -not original- as there were nasty white metal fittings when we moved in which we replaced, I think the originals would have been painted iron.
When it came to having a secure, warm and double glazed front door we opted for having fully glazed to optimise light and had it fitted a metre inside the hallway, so keeping the original door, and not losing the open porch. Only problem now is that furniture won't go in or out

Re: What colour is your front door?
The cottage is white and the window frames always match the doors.
When we moved in it was brown with a brown surround.
Within a year it was mid-blue with a blue surround.
Then it was strong green with a yellow surround.
A couple of years later, bright yellow with a blue surround.
Now it's pillar box red with a black surround.
Thinking about purple next.

Duck egg blue 1930s style (Repro) with a stained glass panel at the top.Glazed side lights with leaded glass. Unfortunately not double glazed or very draughtproof, but we love it! Keep meaning to get a heavy door curtain fitted but as we are often away during the coldest bit of the winter, I have never got round to it.

I've always wanted one of those too, afraid mine is boring white upvc one day I'll be able to have a new front doorMilims wrote:I hate our front door! It's sort of long glass pannels with dark brown stained wood between. Yuck! I want a new one like the Edwardian style/council house with the 6 small panes of glass at the top and painted either Buckingham Green or purple!
