Ecoballs rock!!

Post: # 224631Post Mrs H »

Just thought I would let you all know, I bought Ecoballs for the washing machine yesterday. I went out to get washing powder and could only get a 42 wash box for just over £9, I thought that was way too expensive considering I do on average 4 washes a day. The ecoballs cost £8 and they last for 150 washes before needing refilled. I've always been sceptical but thought at the price of powder I might as well give them a go. The refills are a lot cheaper.
I gave them their first go this morning with the toughest wash they will ever do in this house, the nappy wash!! And trust me it was a bad one as little one has been a bit poorly!! The nappy's came out spotless and so soft I couldn't believe it. I put a few drops of lavender in the detergent tray to make them smell nice and it worked a treat. I am so pleased. Wash 4 is in at the minute. The clothes don't seem to be as creased when they come out either so hopefully that will mean I won't have to iron as much!!
Just thought I would let you all know as we have worked out today that on the price of the refills it will cost us approx £21 a year compared to £235 for powder. No chemicals either so another bonus!!
I got mine from Lakeland but you can order them online. X

That sounds great Mrs H - I have to admit I've looked at them but never dared get them. I might be tempted now.

I do have one question though - what's an iron?

im tempted to try them now... i use laundry liquid as the washing machine has 'jammed' up before because of the cool washes and powder before. this looks like a good cheaper alternative

Anyone know how they are at getting rid of grease stains? Virtually everything I own has been liberally doused in one carrier oil or another at some point!

They come with a little tube of eco stain remover stuff but I washed my boiler suit last night that is generally covered in cow shit and oil and it has come up like new!! I really can't believe it, as I said I was very sceptical but they hav proved me wrong so far!! X

Hello Mrs H

Would you mind telling me where you buy Ecoballs from please.

If I can get them locally I think I will give them a try.

I've not seen these before but I'm confused........does it mean 150 washes and then you have to buy new balls?

I LOVE my eco-balls. As most of my washes are at 30*C I use them 200 times before refilling (@Spider8, you just open their little 'cap' & pop the old ativated stuff out & the new stuff in).

I bought both my daughters their own balls as part of their 'survival kits' when they left home. (Hubby says as they are our daughters they already had balls, but that's an other story   )
