SOS from Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Post: # 196433Post Annpan »

We need a bit of help.

If anyone is around and free on Saturday 15th (tomorrow) we could really do with a hand.

For those who haven't been following our saga (between facebook and my blog):
Our builder asked us to vacate the house for a few weeks on 12th March so they could tie in the old and new sections of the house. SInce then work is sporadic to say the least.... our house is uninhabitable and the builder is continuously asking for more money to complete. Building control have now told us that he has not complied with regs on several fronts, trading standards are now involved to get him to finish the job.

We are staying with the inlaws (25miles away) but I am at our house from 7.30am till 6.30pm almost every day, I get to read my 3YO a bed time story at night and see her at the weekends, when we often travel across the country to stay with my sister.

It is a living nightmare and I want to come home.

Sorry for the sob story but if anyone is near J10 of the M74 we would really appreciate a hand to cut firewood, move a dishwasher and washing machine and bath and kitchen units. I can plumb everything in I just physically can't move them.

My builder has told me he will be putting a waste pipe in our kitchen tomorrow and I think once we have a way to cook and wash we can move back in.

I'll provide cups of tea and fish-suppers

Oh buggeration, Ann. Our community garden opens (at long last) tomorrow, so we're on site all day tomorrow and Sunday doing the finishing off / inductions / yelling at people to shut the effing gate (you get the picture??). I'm so sorry - any other weekend and we'd have been there like a shot. Damn and bugger it.
Sorry sweetheart xxxx
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

Mr Strong of Headfordshire* showed up, twins in tow and gave us a hand moving stuff which was great  the twins even gave us a hand sweeping up a little too

I'm back today on my lonesome plumbing it all in... ach!

Anyway, thanks for the support guys and any of you close enough to offer a hand at short notice any other time we would be more than welcome and much appreciated... it would be nice to turn it into a mini meet too.

Glad you managed to get some of it sorted - good luck with the plumbing ( I hope you're better at it than my OH - he's cost us a fortune in repeat trips to B&Q followed up with a remedial plumber  ).

You'll be back in there soon. :hugish:

Three cheers for JH, The Twins, and the power of Ish!

I know when we were renovating that even someone to entertain kids or make brews was a massive help. I wish I was closer as I'd definitely come over and help.

BUMP!

We are having a get together over the long weekend (Fri 28th - Mon 31st) to get more work done. I have named it my 'get me my house back' festival. I have already enlisted some amazing friends who do stone walling and are going to be able to fix a few walls in the garden but I have a long to-do list.

If anyone is free to help you would be most welcome.

The garden will be open for campers, we will provide meals and drinks.... We have a compost toilet, a flushing toilet, running water, a dishwasher I am working on the washing machine and shower (my neighbour has offered showers for helpers if I don't get ours working in time)

Is it easy to get to your place via public transport from Glasgow? If so, my sister and I could come and give you a hand for part of the weekend...

If you get the train to Larkhall someone can come and meet you at the station. We are a few miles away from the nearest bus stop, and even that only has buses from Hamilton every 30 mins.... train to Larkhall is by far the easiest option, only about 10 mins drive.

pm me if you want my mobile no.
