Spending a back-breaking half an hour every day caterpillar squidging instead of using chemicals.

Being able to prioritise - Having fresh homebaked bread in the morning.... and not bothering to clean the floor.

I love sending my kids off to school with their uniforms smelling of nowt but fresh air and their lunch packs full of home made or grown goodies, having the time to spend on gentle pursuits like knitting and spending quality time with my OH

Let us be silly and free

It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

that sometimes up to 3/4 of the food on my plate comes from the allotment, and because of that, knowing i can at least feed myself a vegetarian diet if some peak oil disaster should occur......that i'm not wholy reliant on someone else for my food anymore.

Pretty much everything said above, but also, and I think mainly the best bit of being "ish" is that no-one berates me for not being SS/green/eco etc enough!
I recently joined another forum for some more specialist advice. The first response to my question completely missed its point and focused wholly on our still needing to use coal occasionally as a back up.

Re: What do you love about being Ish?
I cleaned pout my larder last week and realised that other than the dried pulses/fruit/veg/mushrooms in there which could if needed feed us for at least a month or two, I also have a whole two shelves devoted to home made jams, marmalade, pickles and chutneys.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

I love reducing my impact on the poor overused Earth, and I love the taste of home grown veg!

Re: What do you love about being Ish?
Having taken the plunge and given up the comfort and security of a permanent job, I love the freedom of being able to take breaks between contracts. I've just had six months off work
and it's been fabulous. OK, so I haven't been on holiday (unless you count three days staying with a friend in North Wales which was brilliant) but then I've just had a six month holiday in my own garden.
Off to work again next week but it's only for three months then I can have another break.
Cheers
Zoe

Being able to do what I want, when I want; (including sitting on ISH on grotty days
)
I haven't worked for 'the man' for twenty years, (unless you count hubby!) I work for Mother Earth and She's a gentle boss, only nagging with Sun, rain, or frost. ~I have the ultimate 'job security!'
