Where I live

Post: # 155485Post Green Aura

I just said hello to someone and it occurred to me that it would be quite nice to see where people live. I'm not much of a traveler, apart from racking up the miles between here and Manchester, so I'd love to see others' habitats.

I don't care if it's city, village or countryside; flat (apartment) or mansion; estate or window box. But it would be lovely to be able to visualise where people are talking about in some of our threads. Don't you agree?

I'll start. OH kindly showed me how to upload photos so, here goes - apologies if I make a balls up of it

Image
You can't see our house, but this is from the road - single track road, except this corner!- of course  (edited)

Image
There really is nothing but a tiny corner of our garden between us and this

This was last year, we've since made them double height, added hedging wind breaks and some more raised beds, and a polytunnel. But we managed to get loads of onions, kale and spuds. The ground is really stony - ex-RAF rubble as well as the natural limestone. So digging small beds out take an age!!!

We have friends who, until recently, lived in Plumstead. I really enjoyed going over the Woolwich ferry to see them - and back again. Good fun.

This is the house - opening as B&B on Monday ( just one room - a king sized double). I will post a view of the beach later - it looked like Magaluf today!

Some beautiful places, making me feel better about probably returning to the UK....

On which note this is my house, anyone want to buy it?

Oh Clara! It is beautiful! Why on earth would you leave (if you don't mind me asking - no pressure!)?

There are things I miss about the uk, I lived a long time in brighton and i guess i was spoiled in terms of access to vast amounts of culture on my doorstep. I'm really torn, I LOVE my bit of the world, you can see why...I think it will take a while to sell anyhow, poss years so we're just putting it out there and seeing what happens.

The flats are a U shape and I live to the right of this photo which overlooks a playground rather then a road which is nice, it also gets a lot of light which is good for my tomatoes, strawberries and salad leaves that I grow on the balcony. Inside the U shape is a sparse garden which I'm hoping, with the help of our Tenants Association, to get turned into allotments.

This is our house in France. Looking a little dry as we just came back to waist high meadow which has now been hacked back. We are now working on terracing this bit to include some sort of pond with waterfall so we can try to drown out the sound of a shrieking harridan of a daughter who comes to visit a deaf lady two fields away and insists on bawling at the poor soul (who is housebound) from her parked car every day.

That's gorgeous peach tree on the left and raspberry canes on the right, all the veggies are at the back of the house in little raised beds.
