Green woodworking tools

Post: # 254302Post Davie Crockett »

Many of you know I'm into coppicing and green woodworking as a hobby. Well, I decided to take it a step further and make myself a foot powered lathe and other tools. Traditionally the lathe return stroke would use a pole to provide the spring. Being short of space, I decided to use a bow as my spring.

I'm very pleased with the result: (Link goes to album on Facebook) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 1dc743a61c

I also made a Twca Cam (Welsh spoon knife) with an old half round file and a handle from a broken trowel. I had to anneal, shape, forge, and oil temper the blade before inserting it in the handle. it has edges on both sides of the blade to cut both ways.

Take nobody's word for it, especially not mine! If I offer you an ID of something based on a photo, please treat it as a guess, and a starting point for further investigations.
