Mad pink dress

Post: # 202253Post Susie »

(Apologies to those of you who read my blog and have seen this already. Look away now! Avoid mad pink dress overkill!)

I'm doing Race for Life on Sunday with assorted family members and I decided to make a mad pink dress as a costume. I reconstructed it from 4 of my mum's old tshirts. As ever I can only do a flickr link, sorry! Here it is.

This was not terribly thrifty because the pink dye was hugely expensive (£5.99!), but probably quite a bit thriftier than buying something similar. Although the finished article looks mad, there was a point when I was only half way through the ruffling where it looked almost tasteful - I'm going to try and make some more (not in pink) with fewer ruffles.

The tshirts were going to waste otherwise so I'm at least glad I gave them a new lease of life. My mum brought me down a big bag of old tshirts/ shirts last weekend and quite clearly thought I was mad, but so far I've made this and a skirt and I'll be able to make loads more
