It may be a bit premature...
....to start this thread in "looks like we made it" but I've just been given a full-size floor standing weaving loom!!!!!
It's currently in bits in the workshop and I have no idea what make it is, how to erect or use it, but hopefully 'tinternet and you good buddies will help me on my way.
I can't believe it - so excited.

Oohhhh! How exciting! I'd offer to help, but I know nowt about looms - other than the fact that I'd love to use one...
Best of luck with it. And show us what you make!

So.... a looming project is looming in the future, huh?
Sorry.

Summat red, I think......
Well done, Maggie!

Re: It may be a bit premature...
You may have to wait a little while there Julie.
I've just googled Dryad looms and can't find any information on how to rebuild it - and I can't even work out how big it'll be because I don't know which way up anything goes!
So it may have to go into storage for a little while (until the shop closes again in October). Then I'll have time to experiment and play.
Still really excited though - I've found a source for linen yarn and I'm ready - in my head at least

Your guess is as good as mine Bodrighy
It now transpires there are bits from two separate looms - so I don't know if I have a complete one or just bits.
My neighbour, bless him, says when I'm ready he'll come and give me a hand - I think he's done it before.

Re: It may be a bit premature...
As predicted it was a bit premature. What with converting the stable/shed into a therapy room and then packing up my daughter and transporting her, 3 cats and all her worldly goods up here to live with us and patching and painting the house in Manchester to get it back on the market again (fingers crossed) I've not had time to get the loom out or even look at it.
But this weekend I've had a little boost that might get me back on track. My mother goes out to a luncheon club a few times a week and one of her pals has offered me a spinning wheel and all the carding and other equipment for £35!!! She only wanted £20, I offered her £50 so we met in the middle. I'm not wholly sure that's how haggling is supposed to go
I've had a fleece sitting under the counter for months so I'll be going over back posts to find out how to do it. Quite where I'll put it though is a different matter. The hall currently holds thirty-odd precariously stacked boxes, OH's office space now has a freezer, washing machine, futon and 2 chests of drawers and there are various other bits stuffed in every possible space.
I'll find somewhere, woohoo - can't wait.

That is excellent go and enjoy all your yummy fleece and equipment, is there a local guild who could help with the putting together bit?

Re: It may be a bit premature...
There is a weaver in the village and she's offered to show me the rudiments. I just need my daughter to run the shop while I run off and play - errrr, learn new skills
