Hibiscus Syriacus

I've had this plant for a few years and last year I put it in a large pot. It has been in full sun and in partial shade, watered, fed, pruned. It has never flowered. Is there anything that can be done to make it flower or should I put it in the composter?

This should really grow like a weed, but it doesn't like being overwatered or underwatered. When are you pruning it, the flowers are made on the current years growth

I can't remember! I'll try and find a bit of ground to put it in and give it one more year.
