Dig 'em up and plonk 'em in a pot.
Then put them somewhere frost free and dry, very important they are kept dry ... in fact don't water them at all until next spring.
My geraniums keep going year after year, although this winter I am going to replace them as they are 5 years old and like small trees.

Are they hardy geraniums or pelargoniums, which aren't as hardy?

If they are supposed to be hardy, then check they aren't getting waterlogged over winter.

If they are the latter then do as Odsox says, or take cuttings.

Mine live in an unheated spare bedroom through the winter, but I have to water them. I think you do the keep dry thing if it is a really cool/cold place in the dark, but don't quote me. I've had albino geraniums growing in the garage from minimal light!
