Re: Farmers look to pig poo to boost revenues
I was a bit worried that was going to be the one up the road from me. They're building US style pig farm to produce 'eco' fuel at Foston. All sounds good, local farms benefit from fertiliser, electricity is produced etc. But they believe, “Keeping livestock outdoors may be perceived to be welfare friendly, but goes against new IPCC regulations and is likely to become a thing of the past in the next decade.”
So that's around 26,000 piggies being kept inside at all times, and they're looking at breeding 1000 per week to be sent off to be slaughtered.
I just hope this news article isn't the pretty side of a similar story.
