Post: # 261385Post demi »

iv just discovered you can eat the stone inside the apricots!
they are dried first in the sun.
when ready they taste and look just like almonds! yummy!

Mmmm yes they are nice. A lot of manufactured almondy products use them, battenberg cakes, macaroons etc. Cheaper but still good.

Yes, they are delicious, but don't overdo it - they have cyanide in!

The FSA has recommended that only two per day are eaten

I remember they were considered one of the first superfoods back in the 80s. As a source of laetrile they were going to prevent cancer but then several people died and that was that.

On a similar vein, I remember reading many years ago that apple pips were also poisonous with cyanide, but you would need to eat a whole cup full to have any reaction.

Also that orange peel was used for wine making and the alcohol produced actually dissolved the waxy oil they were treat with on the outside. Not sure if they still do that thou.
With 40 years experience the goodlife normally ends up costing money one way or the other, and a bad back ???
