I made my own before but they didn't last long so I wanted to buy some really good ones.


Any suggestions?

I've had some from epicerma on etsy which have lasted well. I've had a few different ones from etsy, but I can't remember all the sellers - they've all been good value though (none in the UK though so you do have to pay international shipping).

The best ones I find have a layer of hemp in them (I feel that even in typing that sentence I have become a parody of myself ;-) ).

I bought both bamboo and organic cotton and I'm pleased with them. The full sized ones are a little on the large size though.

Still not bought any.... It requires investment and we don't have a lot to invest just now I have worked out I'm going to need 8-10 and each one will cost me 3 months worth of disposables...

and, because of delivery costs, I can't really buy one a month until I have enough.... so financially (unless I can make them myself) I don't see it being worth it to be honest...

I haven't used any from here http://www.lunawolf.co.uk/ but I've been talking to her because she's doing a blog interview for me next week and she's really helpful - I thought I'd recommend her shop because she also sells the stuff to do it yourself and has a snap setting service. It's still not going to be incredibly cheap, but I can't imagine you'd need more than half a metre of all the various stuff to make a big batch.

So just in case anyone's interested (but you're right Ann it is quite an investment upfront whatever way you do it :-( ).

I know what you mean about the initial cost! I bought mine in two lots and now have 12 (buy 5 get one free - so I paid for 10). If you can do it then they pay for themselves over time but its having that spare cash to get them that is the problem. I love mine though and I can't stand the disposables now.

Is there a special way to wash them?

I think its fantastic. You only need to buy 1. I'ts easy to clean, just wash it in the sink in the bathroom with hot soapy water between uses. I got the hang of it quickly and its painless to get in and out, once you practice how.
I'd never go back to tampons or pads. I'ts more hygenic too as its made of medical grade sillicon, and theres no risk of toxic shock or infactions you can get from tampons and pads. I'ts grate!

I have the coil now, and im one of the lucky ones so i dont have to use anything (absolutely brilliant btw)
but before, i used a mooncup.. its great, a one off cost and you can keep using it! just need to give it a rinse, and if you are out in public you dont have to rinse it every time (just make sure you do next time). it does stain a little over time, but you can give it a proper proper clean and it goes back to normal.

as to where you get them, i just got mine in Boots, easy peasy!

Moon cups are defo the way to go - really fab things, have been using mine for about 10 years now and it'll last me a few more years until I don't need it anymore. Not sure what to do with it then though - not really something you can give to the charity shop :D
