Top of the Mornin' to ya!
Hi
Hows it going?
My name is Alex and I am an ex-pat English (blow in), settled in West Cork, Republic of Ireland
We have a 2-and-a-bit plot of land on the site of an ex gravel quarry, that we have been developing for the last 13 years
We planted half up with trees and the remainder is the house we built, 225sq m of vegi beds, a small bit of field and fruit and nut orchard.
We also have a nice big pond (2000 cu m ish) that we are devloping into a carp pond
We keep chickens, geese, and for the last year wabbits
We are self sufficientish in fire wood, veggies, and eggs
I work as a green builder when I can, teach a bit of green building in a local adult education college, logistics co-ordinator for two great kids, romantic devil for beautiful wife (she has a proper job that keeps us in money) and generally busy myself growing and husbanding
Looking forward to good advice and larfs

Welcome! I am new here too. I am split between two homes, one in England where I work for the next twelve months and my cottage in Mayo which I am restoring. I am from Dublin but my family are East Cork, Ballymacoda people going back longer than anyone knows. Good luck with your project! My first ambition is to be self sufficient in stout!

Hello to both of you, we moved to Wexford 11 months ago from Chippenham in Wiltshire. Trying to do much the same as you, have got goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, ducks and chickens. Have planted an orchard and a coppice, and have dug a pond. Was sufficient in veg and milk and almost in meat last year, have high hopes for this coming year. Lisa.

HI there and welcome

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hi there - yes you can, just look down in the reply window where you're making a posting and you will see, 2nd up from the bottom of a list which starts with Disable BBCode (whatever that is!) "Notify me when a reply is posted". That'll send you an email.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.
