Hi from snowy Longridge, Lancs

Hi all.

I am snowed in right now and loving the extra days off work. Schools are snowed/frozen out so kids and I [Teaching Asst] are hanging out and trying to stay warm.

I am just buying a house in Longridge which is a total fixer so keen to get any suggestions and advice on low cost ways to renovate and 'green' the house as well as start up a weed covered patch that will eventually grow our food and keep a few chickens on.

Looking forward to browsing the site some more and picking up a few ideas until we get teh keys on the house and start the DIY frenzie...

When we go south on business we stay at a farm's selfcatering cottage at Alston, Longridge. The owners have been telling us how snowy it is, as it is up here in Orkney. We've had enough snow now........can you stop falling now please.........STOP!
