Hello from Swindon!!!

Post: # 142461Post thesunflowergal »

Hi Everyone

Its great to finially find some like minded people.

We have been trying to live a more frugal and self sufficient life for a while now but still learning, so I am always looking for new ideas.
Its not possible to get an allotment where we live, due to massively high demand. So we try to make the most of the garden and wild food. Just got into bread making and making jams, chutneys and marmalade. We have the great chicken debate running here at the moment. We are thinking about re homing about 6-8 ex battery chickens. We already have a dog and a cat, plus two young daughters lol!!

Take care, Nikki

Welcome to ISH :flower:

If allotments are oversubscribed, what about finding a non-gardening neighbour who will let you grow a few veggies in their garden in return for a share of the produce? It's how we managed till we moved to a house with a big garden.

Hi and welcome!

I used to run a pub in Swindon, many moons ago. Those were the days.

Enjoy!

Hi Sunflowergal, I am new here too and everyone seems so helpful and friendly, we are lucky to have got an allotment after two years waiting! But you can do loads in the garden too. I would love chickens but I really don't trust my cat near them! Garden too small too, enjoy! Surfpeach :cat:

Hi - me again

I forgot to mention before that when you are ready for your chickens, let me know. I know a farm not far from here that often has ex-farm chickens for rehoming.

Cheers
Zoe
