Peppers
Peppers
Had to pick the peppers last week as I needed the space. Flippin things just kept on growing and there were still quite a few flowers and buds when I pulled them up.
We already had 3 large bags of sliced frozen peppers in the freezer, but couldn't waste these last few. I saw mention of dried grated peppers, which I tried and failed miserably. Ever tried grating a pepper ? So I chopped them into smallish pieces and gave them a brief whizz in the food processor.
They took less than no time to dehydrate and I just put a tablespoonful in the mixed veg soup I just made and they rehydrate easily and gave the soup a pleasant peppery flavour.
Methinks we'll do that again next year.

Re: Peppers
They look good. Great to mix in cream cheese for your butties too.

Re: Peppers
If the promised greenhouse turns up for the spring then I shall be growing similar and hope for just as good results.
Re: Peppers
What's the secret to growing peppers? I had two years of good results then three years of "half-hearted just won't grow" in the greenhouse.
Re: Peppers
Mine were grown in a small hydroponic unit. The beauty of that is it has a small aquarium heater in the water which keeps the roots at a steady 20 degrees, then it doesn't seem to matter what the air temperature is (as long as it's above freezing)dave45 wrote:What's the secret to growing peppers?

I'm not envious at all. No, not even a bit.

I am not jealous, because I have loads of lovely roasted peppers sitting in oil in my fridge, thanks Tony :)
