Fennel questions

Post: # 285886Post Brewtrog »

I'm looking at digging up our fennel for the bulb come the new year, and was just wondering when the best time of year for it is? Also is there any way of replanting part of it so that it grows back?

The wife- Fennel can be divided easily (from offsets) and self seeds well, best done in spring

It depends which type of fennel you're talking about. I presume you're talking about Florence fennel if you're waiting on a bulb. We've been getting them in our veg box for about a month now, so I'm guessing you're a bit late but not too late.

I've never grown Florence fennel so I don't know about replanting but if you leave some of it in the ground it might go to seed, as per what Mrs doofa said.
