Graye wrote:No, just basic moneymaker & tom thumb. It's that first pair of leaves that are so distinctive (and tomato like). They don't look like those on the huckleberry and there aren't any on that photo Davie Crockett posted so I can't compare. Are they similar on your daturas, MKG? I remember looking for some purple upright datura seeds I had but couldn't find them - otherwise I'm positive I've only planted veggies or salad stuff this year. I bought geraniums and begonias as plugs as an experiment (great value too...) so didn't actually open up any seed packs.
Sorry - didn't notice your question before. I've just been to check and yes, the datura seed leaves are exactly like the ones in your photos. Funnily enough, I also checked what's left of the tomato seed leaves - and I feel sure that when they were both emergent, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

You'll be able to tell soon. If they're daturas then the very next set of leaves should have the appearance of the upper ones in Davie's photos.

Just to finalise this thread.... They were --- daturas!

I have no idea where the seeds came from. I had some double upright purple ones from a friend in Spain but I've lost them and have never planted any. These were upright, single and white. Very pretty but a complete mystery...
Growing old is much better then the alternative!
