Not much being harvested here... just herbs - sage, basil (indoors), thyme - and lettuce, rocket and radishes. But this is my first year of growing a proper selection of food so I haven't got any crops that were planted last year.

My first proper year too Megan :)

I've just harvested my first potatoes, and earlier today had a yummy herb and greens salad. Peas are very close to being ready.

Your peas are way ahead of mine! But I have a couple of very small mangetout. I think my first potatoes are almost ready to be harvested - is it always the case that you wait for them to flower and then they're done?

In my experience first early potatoes don't flower at all, the best way to tell if they are ready is to dig one up, or at least have a poke around under a plant to see what's there.
Stupidly I always leave mine later than I need, as I have done again this year, cos the growth is taking on a distinct yellowing which means the plants have just about finished. :scratch:

I had my first picking of tree spinach (Chenopodium giganteum) last night:

It cooks to a dark green and tastes like spinach, perhaps with a hint of seaweed. I took the top off one and larger leaves from near the top off another. In a week or so, I can see how those plants have recovered but I think tree spinach will be a major component of the greens part of my diet this summer.

We are currently eating Spinach (bog standard stuff), Salad leaves, radish and strawbs (only a few though, they only ripen two at a time which is annoying), parsley, dill, oregano and chives.

I recon next week we will have some new pots (Red Duke of York) ...can't wait!

Me too, and my peas are only just starating to flower!

I tried digging one of mine up a few weeks ago and found tiny nodules, about 2mm across. I felt very silly for checking so early :oops: Now they're flowering!

My first earlies aren't showing any sign of flowering, but the growth is starting to wilt a bit so I opened the velcro bit on the side and a couple baby pots fell out. Don't think it'll be completely done for a couple of weeks but I can feel plenty in the bag.

Finished early spuds (Rocket and Swift) - stroring them for use over the next few weeks.
Lots of mangetout (Norli) - a big crop this year and really tasty.
Celtuce - not grown this before and its a bit of a winner - I did plant them too close together though, not realising how big they grow.
Eating first courgettes (Bambino and Taxi)
Kohl Rabi - first year I have grown these wel land they are great in salads.
Spinach - plants look straggly but have re-grown after 3 cuttings.
First heads of Calabresse are forming - should be ready in a week or less.
Lettuce (Winter Density) - too many!

First early spuds are all out, but now picking courgettes. Overwintering onions are about ready, they seem to have taken ages.

No way! My beetroot's still seedlings. . . Was spring too late to plant it?

My radishes are over & done with, tho. . .

Garlic seems to have finished - the plant-bit above the ground has died off . . . dug up a couple to see what was afoot, and they have formed one big, round bulb. . . tasty, tho. . . guess I did something wrong?

New to this growing malarky, so it's a learning curve. . .

Had our first tomatoes and counting down the days to our first sweetcorn - is it summer, you wouldn't think so looking at the weather.

I sowed that beetroot 12 April. My next lot is coming up and I'll be sowing more soon when I get some space. Not too late, it's like lettuce, just keep sowing small amounts so you don't have a huge glut all at once. :flower:
