Frosted!!

My chilli and pepper plants got frosted the other morning and the leaves have wilted. Ive since bought them all in as some survived. Will the ones with frosted leaves grow again or have they had it?

Every year i grow chilies on the allotment and as soon as we gat that first heavy frost they all turn black overnight and are dead
Also today all my dhalia's and squash plants died

In theory your plants could survive,if they havent lost the use of too many leaves, one or two they can do without(remove them v. carefully)

Lots frosted here too yesterday but I'd seen the forecast and got all the rest of the tomatoes picked and got as many lettuce in the fridge as I could. Some of the lettuce is OK though - red oak leaf seems to be tougher than young cos. It's a risky time of year but the forecast for here is quite mild now (at night) so I want my geraniums outside for as long as possible looking pretty. I don't know if frosted peppers would survive, I would think not.

The ones that got frosted have been really blitzed and lost all their leaves Never mind, theres a few plants left. Lost all my squash plants too that actually had fruits on for the first time this year! Never mind, always next year (again!)

I wish my bloody dahlia's would give up and die - I am dying to get bulbs in but feel guilty pulling them up while they are still flowering!

Should you take beetroot and carrots in once it starts to get frosty?

Beet and carrots should be fine for the mild frosts, they prob will not grow much more but will stay in the ground as storage (mine were fine until xmasish last year..)

I just went to the green house to pick the last cucumber and the frost yesturday has killed off the toms & cue plants but not the aubergines, sweet peppers & chillies. Must invest in parafin greenhouse heater next week (pay day)

Does anyone know at what temp borage gets killed cos mine is absolutely fine and dandy and still flowering, in fact the self seeded ones from the original sowing are about to flower. I need to pull one up to plant a new perennial in its place but I can't cos it is still so pretty and the bees like it! Help!

Digging this thread up again, my chilli plants did recover after the frost and sprouted new leaves. Hooray I thought until my cats dug the plants up and killed them anyway

Having read what I'd written above I now know that borage withstands zero OK but not minus 6!
