Blackfly problems

Post: # 159000Post bantamlady »

I have just had to pull up all my broad beans in the veg patch due to blackfly. The plants were black with them despite anything I did. I bought some more from local garden centre and only had boxes to put them in for now. They ended up in pots on the patio, with a large pot containing basil and parsley.
Not a blackfly in sight on either of the boxes! Not sure if it is because they are in pots or next to parsley or the basil, but the beans look very healthy! Hopefully I will still get some beans this year!
The cock may crow but the hen delivers the goods!

I'm beginning to think it's a bad year for aphids- even the nettles round here are crawling in them
