Re: DIY Hydroponics

Hey Tony, that is looking good!

I am looking into setting up an aquaponics system. Got some of the components, but it will be a bit longer before I get it installed.

Re: Pumpkin Patch

Hope you have nice warm weather. My pumpkins are, what is the word, languishing...? Just hanging in there until hopefully the temps go up. Preferably before winter kicks in again, if that is not too much to ask.

Re: Spraying cat

Stress is a common cause of spraying, but first thing to do I've been told is run to the vet and check for urinary tract issues.

Perhaps this gives a few clues? http://www.vickyhalls.net/feline-faqs/4566063347

Good luck. It is no fun having a spraying cat (been there, done that)

Re: New Project :-)

Getting back on the wellfare issue for the chicks I would say that much depends on what is actually taught with the hatching on the chicks. Does having chicks hatch in the classroom inherently teach children that they (the chicks) are disposable? Any more than seeing the chicks at a petting zoo? I a...

Re: New Project :-)

Well, watching a video of a house cat is hardly the same as actually having one purring in your lap. I know what I prefer as an experience (and since I am not allergic, it actually is the live cat). Watching a dvd simply is not the same as a live experience. This is the stuff where kids talk about a...

Re: Another new member saying hi!

Welcome. Not sure if you'd be interested in Permaculture, but there is a Permaculture Magazine. Not always full of really practical stuff, as far as I've seen, but might be inspiring if you are into permaculture-ish.

Re: We've got planning permission to build a house in our wo

Nice photo! Do you still need a septic tank when you have a reed bed? I've no clue about these things, as you may notice...

Good luck with the building.

Edited for spelling mistakes....
