making money
6) knobbly seat covers for drivers Make your own or sell at craft markets for money. This must be close to the ultimate capitalist dream of adding value. 7) use as weights in plastic netting (eg onion) bags for ..erm.. weighting things down. No, wait it'll come. Actually, forget this one; as ...

The first time I grew corn a few years ago it was a great success and I was delighted. I tried the following year and the crop was poor. I've tried since with mixed success but the last couple of years have been good. I've never really found a better way to be sure they're ready than to do as Red sa...

Well, mine must be some rare dwarf variety I think. Not those ordinary, common ones that seem to be all stem with a few leaves and some silly flower at the top. Mine don't bother with flowers. The best one is like a small bush and about knee high. Maybe I should try entering a bonsai contest instead...

I'm not sure if this is the same as E now or not but is this the one I should definitely not allow to seed? http://www.grumpybadger.org.uk/pics/weedy/weedfence.jpg And here's a better picture of A: http://www.grumpybadger.org.uk/pics/weedy/paperyagain.jpg Is it lichen as suggested? I know I said they're typically orange but I had a black one recently with some lemons in and very nice they looked too.
This made me think.
This shows one but you can imagine the effect if I collected a few... http://www.grumpybadger.org.uk/pics/weedy/fishnet2.htm

Thanks for your answers and comments. This is a quick response as I'm off to a pub quiz now. A. It's like paper which is pale grey on the under side and dark grey on the top and curling up at the edges. It always looks dry and it's been there for some years. I took another picture earlier to help id...

I want some rain. :( People always think of England as wet but apart from a heavy shower a few days ago that dampened the bottom of my dry water tank... nothing. nada. I'm reduced to using tap water on my crops and it hurts me to use drinking water... especially as I pay for it! Question: my water t...

fruit-picking
Safety net for fruit? To catch windfalls and dropped apples during picking before they hit the ground. I might try to rig up something for picking blackcurrants. Mine are pretty small and as I strip the fruit and try to contain it all in my hand to transfer to a container I always lose some. A netti...

A net for trainee jugglers.
Trainee juggler's net Collect lots of small net bags and tie at edges to make a net about 2m diameter with a hole in the middle surrounded by elastic and place around the waist. This invention is of world-changing significance as it obviates the necessity of continually bending to pick up the balls...
