Re: Electricity Usage Club

Crikey, that is a lot! Makes me glad to have mains gas! How much do you have to buy at a time? Must be tough if you have to fork out a lot at a time. When we had the Rayburn we lived near a forest, and my dad and a friend had the right to go and chop some of the wood there, if I remember rig...

Re: Electricity Usage Club

Hopefully prices will start coming down for prepayment customers, if they haven't already. Ina, hello again :hugish: And you might have to pay for a meter change (and/or wait for ages!) so not worth it if you're not in a place for long..And moving house is very stressful. Hope you have settled in no...

Re: Insect bites

I'm afraid I resort to anti histamines when I've been bitten but as a repellant I have found that lavender oil seems to work quite well (well I get bitten less!) - you can use it neat as a deodorant. People seem to like the smell. Not sure what lavender I have at the moment but I have had the spike ...

I know it's difficult to try & put complicated issues succinctly sometimes. Human interaction can be very interesting yet extremely frustrating sometimes

Re: Adult bullying

Cloud, I think that's fantastic. I hope you can come up with a good way of defining bullying, so if people are unhappy they have a proper way to complain. However, some people may not realise the effect they are having on others, so instant dismissal may be a bit harsh, perhaps a system of warnings ...

Re: Adult bullying

That's really good news, Graye  :flower: I hope his business goes well. Sounds like that is what he really wants to be doing, and now he can.. I just heard a friend of mine has resigned her job (she should have done it years ago). She says she felt so relieved to do it. I think she was being...

News from the ANH

ANH (Alliance for Natural Health) are working to try & preserve our freedom to choose safe, natural therapies. This is the summary of the e-blast I received today: ANH’s unique melding of science, medicine and law gives you a perspective you can rely on. This information is vital if we are to re...

Re: Electricity Usage Club

What concerns me the most is a comment in that Economist article about how they will be able to turn your electric appliances off whenever they want. I can see all kinds of dangers in that..Also, will you have to be able to access the internet to see the bills? I know now, that my water meter in Bir...

Re: Adult bullying

Stress can make us feel & say all kinds of things. It sounds like the situation is very tense & maybe it won't be till he's out of it for a while that he'll be able to put things in perspective. My OH works for the DWP so if he needs any advice on job hunting/benefits (it's amazing the jobs ...

Re: Plants that liked to be used as a toilet !

I'd love to wee in the garden but we are overlooked on both sides, so it's not very practical. I struggled in Russia with the row of holes next to each other toilet with no partitions or door in between. But the old ladies would just get on with it & have a good gossip! Mind you, I have a ...

Re: Well well well!

Whatever we may think of them, they have been lawfully elected, and this is supposedly a free country... Instead of condemning the BNP, perhaps the leaders of the other parties should be questioning why people are voting for them, and address those concerns. And who knows? Maybe being elected will b...

Yes, looks like an interesting recipe...

Both I and my husband really fancy cheese sometimes, but we know it's not good for us.
