feed the hens in the evening inside the area you want them to roost. The lure of food will overcome their nostalgia

Move the tractor when it suits you, but i wouldn't worry to much about upsetting them, they'll get used to it, especially if it happens regularly

Also nearby, we have all the members of the crow family bar one.We have Hooded Crows, Ravens, Rooks, Magpies, Jackdaws, Choughs and Jays. The one we don't have is the Carrion Crow. No house Sparrows yet (16 years built) but a big selection of other species

The Robins were quick to attch themselves to the pigs when they root around

At present we just fatten the two for ourselves, but I'm considering ramping up production to sell. There are several quite big free range meat processors in the area

We might even consider an organic symbol

We also buy in baby broilers for the freezer

Whilst the type of milk probably make a difference to the flavour, and what the animals ate can effect the flavour of the milk, AFAIK it is the bacterial culture that make the difference between cheese varieties
