Re: Over use of Anti depressants?
It's really hard to explain to people who don't / haven't actually had depression because they don't often understand what depressed people are saying / thinking / doing. I'm not being patronizing or clever but it is just my experience as I was diagnosed with depression / Manic Depression at 16 and ...

Re: Labels
Jeyes Fluid, Acetone (Nail varnish Remover), Washing Up Liquid, Furniture Polish all get sticky stuff off apparently. However like with our peanut butter jars we just soak them in hot water and scrape the gunge off with a sharp knife then a good scrub with washing up liquid usually gets most of it o...

Re: 101 uses for lumps of polystyrene packaging
If it's big chunks, carve it and stick glitter on it to make Xmas decorations.
You can also carve it into stone shapes, cover with a mixture of sand and cement, cure it in water and use it as lightweight decorative rocks in aquariums.
Chop it up and put it in the loft in packs for extra insulation.

Re: Feed the Birds
Yep, our bird feeder is being absolutely caned almost every day, poor wee things. We've got fat balls up but so far it just seems to be Sparrows which is fine by me as they are actually on the endangered list these days
Will do more when money allows... I LOVE birds!

Re: Sourdough Bread Disaster
Hi Graham, Thanks for the response. I did the refreshing of the starter, though not more than twice over the ten days - that must be it. I'll have another go and refresh more frequently. Yep, we made some yesterday (bread) after having our starter for 10 days and refreshing every day and it was rea...

Make your own cookie cutters from cans
I found this: http://issuu.com/i-zhan/docs/cutterstutorial I know it's in foreign but you can get the idea by looking at the photos! Having said that, if it were me I'd at least wrap some duct tape around the top or fold it over so you won't cut your hands using it. You could bend it into any shape ...

Re: The Good Life is rubbish so shop in A5da.
Honestly who are they asking? I shop via honesty boxes, my local health food / greengrocer and my Organic Butchers every week and spend around about the same amount as I would in a Supermarket for and I certainly don't come home with half of the crap I used to just because it's there on the shelf. I...

Re: How do i batch freeze/cook pasta with a filling?
Egg pasta is fine to freeze (raw) and cook from frozen.
I just extend the cooking time by about 5 minutes so the insides are cooked all the way through :)

Re: What are we all having for dinner?
If I get around to making it this evening, we are having: Muttar Paneer, Boiled Rice and home-made Naan Bread.
If not... we have ragu sauce, Lentil Soup, Hummus, Roasted red pepper hummus, Middle Eastern Chickpeas and several other home-made frozen meals in the freezer :D

Re: Wind turbines on your door step?
We also have turbines nearby and suffer no problems either noise wise or health-wise and I know of now-one else who suffers either. The people at the CAT Centre in Wales have been living near turbines and al sorts for years to no ill effects :)
