Re: Well well well!
In fact I think more people in Britain voted than in some other countries. I too think it's important, having learnt at school how people fought & struggled to gain the vote. I missed a general election when I was in Romania (and came back to a different government than when I left, and also the...

Re: Adult bullying
Is he a member of a union? They should be able to help if so.
I only realised fully after I left my last job, that I was being bullied.
I hope that his next job will be much more pleasant, and I hope he enjoys spending time with the new baby.

There are also other milks available, rice milk, nut milks, which you could experiment with. I have to be careful of dairy too (it creates loads of mucus in me), but it is so difficult to avoid completely. You may find you can tolerate goat's milk. some people can (if you like the taste!), and I hav...

Re: weight loss bandwaggon!
Lynne, I can identify with you there! I know I do better eating little & often, but for tea I have been eating similar portions to my husband, who eats very little during the day & likes a big meal when he gets home. This is something I have realised this week I have to try & change, als...

Re: Prevention from being more ish?
You're right Annpan, but this also applies to single parents like my sister who does her best with two children and has worked & studied since her divorce, but has needed help from the State to survive ( she has been in a long struggle to get the ex to pay any regular money). How she can be expe...

Re: Prevention from being more ish?
Big Al, Do you realise that from the end of this year (I think it is) that you would have had to go to work when your child was 7? Does anyone else think this is appalling? There are some very strange things going on in the heads of the people who run our country.

Re: Electricity Usage Club
So the cashback can be a good bargaining tool, then? Actually, contents insurance is the next thing on the list to sort out. My landlady(my mum!) has the buildings covered & a certain amount of contents but we need to investigate further. We had a quote from HSBC in the branch but I'd like to co...

Re: Prevention from being more ish?
Ellendra, how miserable to not be able to know what is happening to your own body. I chased doctors for ages trying to get a diagnosis for something, but I am still no further on. (I do have a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome, and I had to move back with my parents for over 2 years, VERY stress...

Re: IBS? (tmi in places)
Interesting point about the air, Ellendra.. One thing that can help me also is peppermint tea with (ideally) fresh grated ginger or powdered ginger. Chamomile tea may help as well, it is very soothing & healing to the digestive tract and was actually prescribed for me when I got ill in Romania(I...

Re: weight loss bandwaggon!
well done mrs flibble. :hugish: I was really please with myself last year when I found I could buy a size 16 wedding dress, the size 18 was too big :sunny: And I have bought other things that size too. A few years ago I had to buy a size 20 trousers. Like you, it has happened naturally. I think that...

Re: IBS? (tmi in places)
Another IBS sufferer here. Stress can upset the tummy but I have found my stomach is difineitely sensitive to what goes in it. Also hormones play a part with me too (too much oestregen really bloats me up) What has helped me tremendously is the Blood type diet, this helped me to start really identif...

Re: Electricity Usage Club
Thank you Big Al. I plan to have a reccy of the gas/elec situation quite soon. Last time I checked it wasn't worth swapping. I am not sure if we would qualify for grants etc, as we do not own the house we live in. But it could be that a different boiler would be would be more efficient in the future...
